New Human Resource Trends With the Latest Technology

Good management of human resources greatly impacts the success of any organization. How companies manage their employees plays a huge role in performance and productivity. To improve efficiency and create a flowing engagement system, definitions are typically changing. The COVID-19 Pandemic made it imperative for organizations to adopt new technologies to support remote working arrangements while maintaining productivity levels.

The growing presence of millennials in the workforce has also altered workplace dynamics and expectations. This tech-savvy generation tends to require flexibility, collaboration, and meaningful work in their work-life. Thus new technologies such as AI and remote collaboration tools have become major priority for organizations in building the kind of engaging and inclusive workplace essential for attracting young workers.(Van Vulpen, E., Veldsman, D., & Van der Merwe, M. (2025)).

With these changes, the practices and methods of managing human resources have transformed. Organizations are now strategizing with a focus on employee-centered wellness, ongoing learning, and adaptability. As such, their policies have been aligned toward improving recruitment and retention, resulting in a stronger yet more innovative workforce that can tackle challenges in the ever-changing business landscape.

Hybrid work model

The hybrid work model emerged as a prominent practice during the COVID-19 pandemic, as organizations adapted to the challenges of remote work. This approach combines both in-office and remote work, allowing employees the flexibility to choose how and where they work. As many companies maintain this model, it has become clear that it offers several advantages, including cost-effectiveness and enhanced operational efficiency. (Wells, R., 2024.))

By reducing the need for large office spaces, organizations can save on overhead costs such as rent and utilities. This financial benefit is coupled with an increase in employee productivity, as many workers report feeling more focused and motivated when they can work from home or choose their work environment. Additionally, the hybrid model supports a healthier work-life balance, enabling employees to better manage their personal and professional responsibilities. (Wells, R., 2024.))

As a result, the hybrid work model not only fosters a positive working environment but also resonates with the evolving expectations of the modern workforce, making it a sustainable option for many organizations moving forward.

Metaverse working environment

The metaverse is an evolving digital landscape that facilitates a variety of virtual reality tasks. As technology advances, it is anticipated that people will increasingly work in virtual reality offices, transforming traditional workplace dynamics. This immersive environment will allow employees to conduct meetings with remote clients and collaborate with international market participants in a highly realistic manner. By enabling rich, interactive experiences, the metaverse is set to enhance productivity and foster stronger connections among team members, regardless of geographical barriers. As a result, the future of work may evolve towards greater flexibility and new opportunities for global collaboration. (PeopleHum, (2021.))

Latest technology as a way to drive trust

Utilizing the latest technology provides opportunities to measure employee performance and behaviors more realistically and accurately. This level of transparency ensures that all employees have equal opportunities within the workplace, as leaders are less likely to show bias based on personal preferences. The effectiveness of technologies such as ERP systems and digital dashboards is significantly beneficial in evaluating employee performance. (Possible Works,( 2025.))

Online communication

Online communication is becoming increasingly popular due to its convenience, speed, and cost-effectiveness. Organizations are leveraging various online communication platforms to maintain connections with their employees, guiding, managing, and leading them effectively. These technologies facilitate continuous and efficient communication, especially with employees in remote areas.

Conclusion

The following are a few key steps in the modern HR function as it is currently evolving worldwide. Employers are navigating continuously changing organizational cultures. The challenge is to successfully address these specific situations. HR leaders must regularly upgrade their strategies to adapt to these circumstances.

In recent history, Sri Lanka has faced numerous challenges, including economic issues, epidemics, and political incidents, all of which have directly impacted HR functions. Many of these situations could be managed effectively by embracing technology related to HR. A notable example of this is the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your article does a great job of showing why keeping experienced employees is so important for a company’s success. I really liked how you highlighted their role in productivity, trust, and innovation—it’s something many organizations overlook. The example from the culinary industry was a great touch, making the concept more relatable and real. Maybe adding a few specific HR strategies, like mentorship programs or career growth opportunities, could make it even stronger. Overall, it's a well-thought-out and insightful piece!

  13. Technology plays a pivotal role in any kind of an organization and all IT related procedures should be timely updated to be par with the rapidly developing IT environment. Having identified the utmost importance of the IT infrastructure (specially which deals with Human Resources Management), for most of the ongoing businesses (not start ups) the cost allocation for the IT development will only be second to the overhead costs and sometimes it will be the highest among all. Hence it can be concluded that, every business cannot neglect the latest technological advancements since it is part & parcel of the Human Resources Management as well.
